The successful applicant will carry out cleaning of the allocated internal and external areas including emptying rubbish bins in the waste disposal system. You will open and/or lock the school, liaise with the Manager Corporate Services on all cleaning matters and record and respond to issues or concerns detailed in the communication book. You will maintain the school environment in accordance with Department of Education (DoE) procedures.
Kalgoorlie SOTA is the largest primary school in Western Australia by area, covering over 750 000 sq km. Most of our students are geographically isolated, living on farms, pastoral stations, roadhouses, remote communities, and mining leases. The school is very well resourced and located in Boulder in a charming building that is over 110 years old with well-maintained grounds and student playgrounds.
Our friendly staff currently consists of a team of eight teachers, a Learning Support Teacher, a Principal, a Manager Corporate Services, and various quality school support staff. Kalgoorlie SOTA works in close partnership with the School Council, the Parent and Citizen's Association and the larger school community. Our positive, challenging and differentiated educational program allows children to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become confident, independent learners.
Located in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia, Kalgoorlie Boulder is situated 590 kilometres inland of Perth. Kalgoorlie Boulder is a modern, vibrant city; the largest Outback City in Australia, with a population of more than 30,000 people. Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
And complete the Department’s:
- Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- Induction program within three months of commencement;
- Online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement;
- Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable;
- Training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
