East Kimberley College (EKC) is seeking an enthusiastic Program Coordinator - Student Services to join a highly motivated and committed team, strongly focussed on meeting the needs of local students.
The successful applicant will be responsible for driving the Behaviour Management agenda and will be required to actively engage in supporting staff to improve their confidence in managing behaviour whilst accepting responsibility for ongoing behaviours that present on a day-to-day basis.
The successful applicant will provide high level guidance and support to the Year Coordinators to develop a vision and sense of identity for year groups. Your responsibilities will include:
- Using a range of data to monitor the progress, learning outcomes, attendance and wellbeing of every Year 7 to 12 student and take action to ensure that appropriate support, extension and intervention are proactively implemented for each child and recorded on Compass.
- In conjunction with the relevant Deputy Principal, managing significant discipline and wellbeing issues.
- In conjunction with the Year Coordinator, conducting regular student assemblies and other events which support a strong focus on celebrating student achievement.
- Supporting the school to embed the new Department of Education Behaviour Management policy into everyday practice at EKC
The successful applicant will ideally have a proven record in the provision of support services to students, parents/carers, and staff, be experienced in the management of student behaviour, and be committed to collaborative teaching and learning practices. This would also involve working with the school's Administration team to review the implementation of the school's behaviour management policy, monitoring of student academic performance, and the implementation of proactive strategies to support and improve student achievement. You will ideally have experience in case management, conflict resolution and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
The role includes the development of effective procedures to case manage the social and emotional needs of students including those at educational risk. This may involve liaising with the relevant Deputy Principal, teaching staff, other members of the student services team, parents and engaging and working with external agencies.
As the successful applicant you will also ideally be experienced in initiating reflective performance development discussions with staff based on a comprehensive knowledge of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Line managing, classroom observations and facilitating peer observation and collaboration will be a part of your regular practice as an instructional leader, particularly in the areas of behaviour and classroom management.
East Kimberley College is one of the largest Kindergarten to Year 12 schools in the state with approximately 1100 students enrolled. With almost 52% of enrolments being indigenous, it also has the largest enrolment of Aboriginal students of any school in the State.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
