About the role
We are seeking a teacher who has outstanding interpersonal skills with a natural ability to communicate effectively and build genuine relationships with parents, students and staff members. The successful applicant would quickly establish a positive and welcoming classroom environment with high expectations, and a growth mindset, while building students’ positive social and emotional skills.
The successful applicant will ideally be a flexible and innovative teacher who is committed to the development of the whole child. You will ideally be actively involved both within the school community, highly reflective of your teaching practices and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation. You should be able to work collaboratively to develop programs of work that meet individual student needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external networks to establish strong community partnerships are highly desirable.
In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered.

The location and community
The picturesque town of Tom Price is nestled deep in the Hamersley Ranges, at the base of the beautiful Mt Nameless (Jarndunmunha). Tom Price sits within the Shire of Ashburton and is some 747 metres above sea level, making it the highest town in WA and a haven for the weary traveller. It’s a modern fully-serviced town designed to blend with the natural environment – an ideal base if you’re wanting to explore the natural wonders of the Karijini and Millstream Chichester National Parks.

This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
