Denmark Senior High School (SHS) is an Independent Public School seeking to appoint a highly competent, creative and innovative Music Specialist Teacher who will join their team to provide quality educational leadership in the Arts.
We are seeking a highly reflective practitioner who will promote an environment of active and positive learning where success is celebrated and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve to their very best. The successful applicant will ideally possess the capacity to teach in both contemporary and western art music contexts, creating the connection between the two.
Living and working in a thriving Arts community, a willingness to coordinate out-of-hours events to provide students with real-life performance opportunities is highly desirable.
Key to this role is that the successful applicant has the ability to care, be curious about learning and about learners, be invested in the school and the community and be reflective of themselves and their practice. The successful applicant will plan strategically for positive outcomes and with high professional knowledge in instructional practice, they will aim to sustain a culture that promotes educational best practice. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
