Malibu School is seeking a dedicated and innovative Education Support Teacher to join our welcoming team.
Malibu School is a specialist school for students with special needs in Kindergarten to Year 12. A high-level knowledge of a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems will be highly regarded, as is a strong knowledge of evidence-based practices, Positive Behaviour Support and Team Teach approaches and Protective Behaviour Education.
The successful applicant will be a genuine innovator who displays creative planning and instructional flexibility, drawing on relevant evidence-based teaching strategies and differentiated learning and assessment approaches to further students’ Personal, Social, Literacy and Numeracy development. Competent use of a range of technologies and experience in cross-curricular planning, aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and Abilities Based Learning Education, Western Australia (ABLEWA) and / or Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), is desirable. Experience in the differentiated development and delivery of ASDAN and Senior Secondary programs, relevant to the needs of our students, is highly regarded.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
