Hilton Primary School (PS) is seeking a vibrant Music teacher, who can engage our students with the Western Australian Music curriculum through a love of Music and the Performing Arts. We are seeking a Music teacher with experience teaching Years 1 to 6, who may also support our Kindergarten and Pre Primary classes. Applicants with some experience of performance and /or choir, will be well regarded.

We have beautiful, spacious and sustainably managed grounds with multiple play areas and numerous outdoor classrooms, to support intentional teaching: "Everything we can teach inside a classroom, we can teach outside". We also have specialist Music, Science and Arts rooms, an undercover area and an outdoor stage. Our school has a very supportive, creative and engaged community.
At Hilton PS we work collaboratively so that "every child's learning is nurtured every day". Our staff engage students in a Literacy block and Numeracy block each day as well as specialist classes for Music, Visual Arts, Physical Education and Digital Technologies. Currently, our Music program includes an extra hour per week for our Year 1 and Year 2 classes, to engage the students in drama, dance and music-related STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). We also value performance incursions and excursions.
We are seeking a teacher to contribute to our Plan for Growth: 2021-2024, to develop consistent whole school practices. We encourage innovation and distributed leadership through Curriculum Teams and Phase of Learning teams. This year our whole school focus is on lesson design, data-based planning, strengthening our Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and further developing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). The successful applicant will ideally have a growth mindset, contribute to collaborative team processes and connect with our community. Applicants who are able to address the diverse strengths and needs of our children, will be well-regarded.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
