Appointment Pool
Westminster Education Support Centre is seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
We are seeking ethical, dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic teachers who are capable of creating high quality, effective teaching and learning experiences for their students. Suitable applicants will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to enhance student learning and wellbeing. Applicants should also be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
We are seeking applicants who are hardworking and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in all areas. Teachers in an education support environment positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. They engage with and contribute to the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes. Communication is a key focus area and all staff our taught in the use of PODD which is integrated across all curriculum areas. PODD is embedded and teachers are supported by our own onsite therapist.
Westminster Education Support Centre is a dynamic and vibrant school providing a safe, friendly student- focussed learning environment for our students. We offer various programs designed to develop our students' needs academically, socially and emotionally.
We share a campus with Westminster Primary School, which provides our students with an opportunity for integration and inclusion, through participation in whole school activities and the chance to take part in mainstream classes.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
