Bunbury SHS is seeking two (2) dedicated Design and Technology Teachers to join their friendly team.
We currently have the following 2 fixed term positions available:
- 1 x - twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position with possible extension and/or permanency
- 1 x - twelve (12) month fixed term, part time (0.4FTE) position with possible extension and/or permanency
All positions will commence Term 1, 2023
The successful applicants will be innovative, passionate and highly motivated educators with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of students within the Technologies learning area. The capacity to deliver programs across Design and Technologies (Materials and Engineering) and Automotive workshop (GEAET) is required for this role.
Experience in teaching CAD, Digital Technologies and the ability to support ICT capabilities with a strong working knowledge of design and digital teaching strategies to build and implement programs with a STEM focus would also be highly desirable.

Bunbury SHS was established in 1918 and is built on an impressive site on one of the city of Bunbury's highest points, Boulter's Heights. It is the fourth oldest government school in the state; thus is entrenched in history and has very loyal and strong support from a large and diverse group of former students, parents and staff. To be suitable for a teaching role at Bunbury SHS, the applicant must be student and relationship focused, with effective interpersonal skills. The applicant will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
Bunbury SHS is an Independent Public School and this flexibility in the way business is done enables full support of the range of special programs that are on offer in the school. These include the Bunbury Elite Sports Training (BEST) Program and the Visual Art Specialist Program (VASP).
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
