This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2023 with possible extension.
Bunbury Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a highly focused and enthusiastic individual to lead their Mathematics team.

Professional knowledge on instructional skills, theories, concepts and tactics, together with knowledge of Lemov’s strategies in developing high expectations is a focus of curriculum delivery at Bunbury SHS. Consequently, our teachers foster a safe and accountable learning environment that is engaging and pushes students to higher order thinking through a shared instructional framework. Teaching practice is in informed by analysis of student results, student feedback and through collaboration with peers.
This position requires an outstanding leader who can inspire staff and contribute to the school’s strategic and operational plans in relation to our growth mindset. In collaboration with the Principal, members of the Executive and Leadership Team, the Program Coordinator – Mathematics will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and encouraging school staff to share in the school’s strategic targets. We value the linking of learning with real world experiences and the currency students can take into pathways beyond school.
The successful applicant will ideally have well developed team leadership skills to build a cohesive team that will be able to deliver a rigorous Mathematics curriculum. An excellent understanding of data analysis and skills in evidence-based planning to improve student learning programs and results is highly desirable. The successful applicant’s management and interpersonal skills should be outstanding and focussed on excellence in teaching and learning through ongoing staff development.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
