About the Role
Teachers at Hedland SHS have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the school community by ensuring each student is on a pathway to success through consistent partnerships with students and their families. We seek staff who are confident in teaching across Years 7 to Year 10 and ideally have a sound understanding of the West Australian (WA) HASS Curriculum and Senior School HASS and in one or more of the following areas Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies and Languages, Business Management and Enterprise, Geography, or Accounting and Finance. Specific skills and experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) either Modern History, Economics and Geography courses is highly desirable, but not essential.

The successful applicant will ideally be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. They can incorporate current and emerging technologies to best meet the needs of our students. Knowledge and the ability to use learning strategies that successfully engage students will be highly regarded. The successful applicant will ideally engage in reflective practice, have a strong evidence-based teaching philosophy and be committed to whole-school pedagogical approaches They should have high expectations and display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment using a ‘restorative’ approach that focuses on building resilience and self-confidence.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING

- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
