Appointment Pool
Cyril Jackson Senior Campus (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and committed Library Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2023.
As the Library Officer you will supervise the day-to-day operations of the library and provision of reference, information, and associated services to teaching staff and students. Other responsibilities of the Library Officer include assisting students, parents, and staff with the selection of age-appropriate reading resources. Suitable applicants will supervise small groups of students in class learning activities relating to the library.
Cyril Jackson SC offers a wide range of Year 11 and 12 courses. We have students ranging from 16 year-olds working towards graduation to mature age students who are here following their interests, including tertiary aspirants. Most students are aged between 16 to 25 years. The school also hosts an Intensive English Centre for 16 to 18 year olds, as well as young adults. A number of the students attending the IEC are humanitarian refugees and after studies in the IEC often continue at Cyril Jackson SC in Year 11 and 12 courses.
Cyril Jackson SC offers an alternative to students who wish to study senior school courses in a mature learning environment with an ethos of strong support. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
- good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment
- ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spread sheets and word processing.
- experience in providing administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
