About the Role
The Human Resources Officer position will involve supporting the administration team in the management and future directions of the school and provide comprehensive consultancy in the coordination of human resource legislation, policies and procedures. This will include workforce planning, relief management, staff recruitment and the coordination of the Human Resource Management Information System. The role will also involve overseeing the implementation of staff induction, performance management and human resource advice and information to staff. An ability to coordinate and implement a health and wellbeing program for staff will also be an advantage.
The successful applicant will ideally have sound written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, be highly organised, have the ability to solve problems, meet deadlines, and implement strategy and manage Human Resource systems and processes.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Considerable knowledge of and experience in human resource management within the public sector legislative framework, including recruitment, selection and appointment policies, procedures and practices.
- Ability to identify, research and analyse issues and offer workable solutions.
- Sound organisational skills in planning, prioritising and time management with proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills, including the ability to undertake effective negotiations and build positive relationships with staff at all levels.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by departmental policy;
- Complete the department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
