Appointment Pool
Safety Bay Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and committed Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2023.
Suitable applicants will build positive relationships and help students at educational risk progress on their personal pathways. Suitable applicants will develop and implement proactive and evidence-based practices to ensure we meet the needs of “Every Child in Every Classroom Every Day”. It is highly desirable to possess the professional knowledge of special education and will be able to modify curriculum and adjust to meet the students’ individual needs which may include students with Autism or complex behaviours. The suitable applicants will work with colleagues to use data from internal and external student assessments for evaluating learning and teaching, identifying interventions and modifying teaching practice. Suitable applicants may also have the opportunity to teach in mainstream classrooms. Being able to teach across a range of Learning Areas is highly desirable. Primary trained teachers are encouraged to apply.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
