The Role and our Branch
Statewide Services is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Coordinator to join the Road Safety and Drug Education branch.

The Coordinator will assist with planning, implementation and evaluation of road safety and drug education programs. You will collaborate and liaise with school leaders, government and non-government agencies to support schools to deliver road safety and drug education programs.
The Coordinator will provide access to practical support, professional learning and resources with a focus on road safety and drug education. You will work with members of other teams in Statewide Services on shared priorities and initiatives to deliver integrated services and support to schools.
The Road Safety and Drug Education branch delivers prevention education to keep children and young people safer. The programs are designed to contribute to the reduction of road trauma and harms from alcohol and other drug use. Its education strategies and resources support early childhood service providers, schools, parents/carers and the broader education community to implement whole-school road safety and alcohol and other drugs education programs.

- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with change and generate innovative solutions related to teaching and learning issues.
- Demonstrated highly developed written communication and presentation skills, including experience in the preparation of reports, briefings and other documentation to support and inform senior officers.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- hold and maintain a current ‘C’ class drivers’ licence
- undertake travel throughout the state, including overnight stays in metropolitan and non-metropolitan locations and travelling in small aeroplanes to remote locations, as required
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
