Coastal Lakes College is seeking a highly organised and committed Business Support Officer who shows initiative and is able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
The Business Support Officer role is varied, encompassing all areas of school operations. The successful candidate will ideally have an excellent working knowledge of Department of Education (Department) programs, such as School Information System (SIS), RM Finance, RM Billing, and the suite of MS Office products, along with Asset Management though out the College.
Ideally you will possess the ability to work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. You should be flexible, as you will work closely with the Manager Corporate Services, independently and as part of the administration team. Good interpersonal skills are ideal for the role as it entails assisting a range of college stakeholders.
Coastal Lakes College opened to Year 7 in 2019 (Year 7 and 8 in the Inclusive Education Hub). Each year we will add a Year 7 cohort until we cater for Years 7 to 12 in 2024. A key indicator of our school's success is the strong relationships our teachers and support staff form with you, your child and the community. Our quality teaching programs focus on each child's strengths, encouraging them in their chosen pathway.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems and plans.
- Well developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.
- Sound human resource management knowledge and skills, including the ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
- Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate solutions.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
