Southern River College (SRC) is seeking a highly motivated, and ideally experienced Media Arts Teacher to join our culturally diverse school.

As a Media Teacher you will participate as an integral member of The Arts learning area and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community, and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies. To be successful in this role you should have an immense passion for Media Arts across multiple media platforms. Experience in Adobe software, such as Photo Shop and Premiere Pro, would be highly regarded, along with experience in filming techniques using DSLR cameras and green screens. Additionally, the successful applicant should possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and/or experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics and be willing to network and build industry contacts with other schools.
The successful applicant will ideally possess professional knowledge, practice, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary Arts curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach, and ideally have success working with students across a range of ability levels.
Being a teaching practitioner that has highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in your own practice, you should have the ability to promote an environment of active and positive learning; and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their very best. The successful applicant will ideally have an extensive knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and a history of supporting and enhancing classroom practice across learning teams.
As the successful applicant, you should be highly motivated; student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. You should utilise innovative initiatives and be able to work effectively within a dynamic team. This will involve you reflecting and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and cultivating a safe learning environment. You should also utilise evidence-based teaching practices whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods. With effective interpersonal skills, you will work closely with students, teachers, and the community to instil rigour, resilience, and pride, allowing students to achieve to their full potential.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
