Meadow Springs Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of passionate, committed, and enthusiastic Deputy Principals for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be experienced, strategic and forward-thinking leaders who have sound knowledge and skills in a range of leadership and management areas. These school leaders will work closely with the Principal as part of the executive team within our school which is inclusive, innovative, high achieving and connected. You will play a key role in the implementation of the school’s business plan along with the school values and vision. Suitable applicants will ideally have the innovation and capacity to provide instructional leadership, enabling staff to implement the strategies outlined in the business plan and achieve the school’s vision and targets.
We are seeking leaders who ideally have the capacity to build and support class teams to deliver consistent practice across the school. You will ideally possess effective interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence, with an ability to develop constructive, respectful, and positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and the wider community. Being on a shared site you will also build and maintain these relationships with the mainstream admin team and promote our Meadow Springs Schools “Two Schools One Community” ethos. Suitable applicants will be responsible for managing the external providers that work with our students on the school site, managing school operations which includes sports carnivals, Year 6 Transition, SEN Reporting, student assessment and graduation. Being a small school, you will also have curriculum leadership responsibilities.
We are an Independent Public School, catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Meadow Springs ESC has a high percentage of students with Autism and Complex Communication Needs. We have an ethos of working together, caring for others, developing positive relationships, taking pride in our achievements and maximising the educational opportunities for all children. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
