Appointment Pool
River Valley Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
About the Role
River Valley PS is seeking to appoint applicants who are motivated, passionate educators, with exceptional interpersonal skills. We believe students learn best when they:
- feel safe, valued and respected
- are challenged, engaged and accountable for their learning
- have a positive relationship with the school and their teacher
- are provided with opportunities to succeed
These beliefs guide us in our decision-making and strategic direction as a school and are central reference points in our School Business Plan. In our Primary classrooms, we aim to offer rich, engaging and challenging opportunities to our students which will promote a love of learning.
Suitable applicants will ideally show excellence in teaching and learning, with an expert understanding of evidence based practices across all curriculum areas. It is important to us that all students have a sense of belonging in our school, nurtured through calm, orderly and predictable environments which are built on the principles of trauma-informed practice and our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework.
Suitable applicants will ideally be innovative and systematic in their approach to delivering Tier 2 interventions in target priority areas such as literacy, numeracy and social emotional learning and will understand the importance of using data to inform these decisions. Knowledge of Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) lesson delivery, lesson design, engagement norms, participation tactics, daily reviews and effective feedback is also highly desirable.
River Valley PS has collaborative team structures which provide opportunities for staff to explore areas of interest which are targeted explicitly at supporting our students to achieve their educational goals. Suitable candidates in this pool will be able to meaningfully contribute to a range of roles within these teams.
Within River Valley PS, we are committed to whole school approaches (Heggerty, Letters and Sounds, Words Their Way, Talk for Writing, Oxford Maths and Friendly Schools) which ensure that every student has a pathway for success. Successful teachers in our school are able to problem solve and support our students to meet high expectations. We accept the differences each child brings to the classroom and use this knowledge to build positive educational relationships with our families.
Our School
River Valley PS is an Independent Public School (IPS) serving the community of Burekup. We are a small country school, with country values, in the urban area of Bunbury. The school opened in 1999 as a result of the amalgamation of the former Roelands Primary School (est. 1903) and Burekup Primary School (est. 1913). The school has maintained its rural background and has a strong sense of community and community involvement. Set near the Ferguson Valley in a unique rural setting, on the South West Highway makes it a desirable location to live.
River Valley PS is committed to achieving year on year growth for every student. To achieve this, every student’s academic and social needs are identified, monitored and achieved via an individualised case management approach. Our mission is to create a strong sense of belonging, where students feel safe, secure and grow in confidence and ability. To foster this, our classes are multi-age grouped and our students have frequent opportunities to engage with their peers in every year level.
River Valley PS implements the PBS strategy which helps create positive learning environments. Our school values reflect the desire to see students be ambitious and strive for success, to take responsibility for their learning and to care for others. Our values are Resilience, Responsibility and Respect (3R’s).
