Cecil Andrews College is seeking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic English teacher to join our team of quality teachers. They will ideally possess the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant English curriculum through a fine-grained program that highlights the critical content and is relevant to student needs and interests. At Cecil Andrews College all staff are responsible for improving literacy, it is vitally important in this role that the successful applicant has strategies to improve literacy and is willing to enhance their teaching expertise in this area.
The ability to access data to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low-achieving students is a key element of this position. You will build positive relationships, focus on students' strengths and harness your passion for educating our students to find their future pathways.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work across Years 7 to 12, according to college needs, and bring their expertise to the Learning Area, ideally applying their knowledge of the English Courses and experience in teaching Senior School Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) English to help our students achieve outstanding results.

Cecil Andrews College provides exemplary education to children from Year 7 to Year 12. Located in Seville Grove, we do not have a prescribed local intake area, so we welcome children from across the State to apply to enrol. Our state-of-the-art Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre is just one of our impressive facilities that give our students special access to state-of-the-art learning technologies. It features new cutting-edge laboratories, pristine preparation areas and an enviable lecture theatre. Our College runs successful AFL and Performing Arts Specialist Programs as well as our P-TECH Program. We have created a learning environment where students can feel comfortable and thrive.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances, where this position becomes subsequently vacant, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
