Hollywood Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint two (2) dedicated and hardworking Deputy Principals to join their collaborative leadership team.
We currently have the following positions available:
For Permanent tenure only
- 1 x - permanent full-time position
- 1 x - permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position
All positions will commence Term 1, 2023.
In collaboration with the Principal and the leadership team, the Deputy Principal will provide high level strategic leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school’s vision, business plan and strategic directions across the school community. A significant responsibility of the Deputy Principal is to embed and maintain aspects of the school culture that promote positive relationships between students and staff while engaging parents, caregivers and the wider community in the educational work of the school.
The successful applicant will ideally display experience in supporting and building the capacity of their staff through coaching and mentoring processes. This would be enacted through leading thorough data and researched informed practice with respect to student engagement, pastoral care and wellbeing, and supporting the strategic planning of targeted initiatives to enhance student wellbeing, progress and achievement. The Deputy Principal should possess a growth mindset and a commitment to implement effective change management to ensure you develop and drive whole school approaches.
Experience in leading the implementation of the West Australian Curriculum within a cross curricular context to enhance learning would also be highly desirable. Experience and knowledge of current educational research as it applies to the pedagogy of Explicit Teaching and High Impact Teaching Strategies would also be an advantage. This position may also include a teaching component to support school priorities.
The successful applicant will ideally be motivated, hardworking, and a highly effective leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively lead a collaborative curriculum team of teacher leaders. This will require an in-depth curriculum knowledge, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
Hollywood PS, an independent public school which successfully blends the original heritage block with classrooms (built in 1935) with extensions and additions through the BER program. Traditional classrooms cater for our Year 1 – 6 students. The school has maintained a focus on community and the shared responsibilities for the education of young children.
Our school caters for approximately 360 students, from Kindergarten to Year 6. We receive frequent applications for enrolment from out of boundary suburbs, due to the quality education program we are providing, our attitude of reflection leading to improvement and the care our staff take to treat each child as an individual.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
