Appointment Pool
Kojonup is a vibrant rural community located 154 kms north of Albany in the Great Southern. Our high school is at the heart of this community and the secondary school is rapidly growing.
Kojonup District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Mathematics – Science - Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2023.
Suitable applicants will be highly effective in engaging and motivating students and creating a stimulating learning environment. Ideally, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills and work closely with students, staff and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. Suitable applicants will work as part of a dedicated team to develop, review and deliver Mathematics – Science curriculum. Your strong teaching and classroom management skills and being able to develop positive relationships with all students to engage them in effective learning will be highly regarded.
Suitable applicants will ideally have a sound understanding of the developmental needs of students at all phases of the Western Australian Curriculum and will be skilled in differentiating the curriculum to meet the academic needs of all students.
Suitable applicants will ideally have proven skills in behaviour management, curriculum expertise and have achieved high levels of student achievement in Mathematics – Science. Commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes is an essential requirement of this role. There is an expectation that all teachers will engage in reflective practice, informed by classroom observation, student feedback surveys and close interrogation of student performance data.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
