Southern River College (SRC) is seeking two (2) dedicated and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teachers committed to achieving outstanding educational outcomes for all students in our culturally diverse school.
We currently have the following positions available:
- Two (2) x - permanent full-time positions
All positions will commence Term 1, 2023.
The successful applicants should be able to teach a range of courses in the variety of Design and Technology contexts, including vocational courses and senior secondary level courses. The ability to teach in multiple contexts offered wood, metal and engineering (mechatronics) subjects is preferable. Recent experience in teaching senior school courses in these subject areas is highly desirable.
The successful applicants will ideally have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. The successful applicants will be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as displaying an engaging and energetic teaching style. You will reflect and assess the effectiveness of your teaching practice using a variety of methods available, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential.
The successful applicants will ideally have experience in a wide range of teaching models and differentiating the curriculum. Adopting inclusive practices, building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role. Excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and the capacity to teach students of varying ability levels across Years 7 to 12 in a highly engaging manner will be highly regarded, as will a strong knowledge and/or experience in teaching Certificate Courses and Engineering Studies.

In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered, though untrained teachers are still encouraged to apply. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
