This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed team leader to work within the Disability and Inclusion leadership team in Statewide Services to transform system strategies and priorities into practical supports for schools to improve the teaching and learning outcomes of students with disability and diverse learning needs.
The Disability and Inclusion branch is looking for someone who has a substantial understanding of disability and inclusion directions and initiatives, alongside a deep connection and commitment to schools and the people in them.

The Role and our Branch
The Disability and Inclusion directorate sits within the Statewide Services division which provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. The directorate builds the professional capability of schools to improve student achievement by enabling teaching and learning excellence. It influences system strategy and input to government and cross-agency initiatives to improve outcomes for students with disability.
As Principal Consultant - Professional Capability, you will lead and influence organisational cultural change by building and strengthening the professional capability of Department staff to embed disability inclusive practices and mindsets into their work.
As part of the Disability and Inclusion team, you will lead the multidisciplinary disability resourcing team. The disability resourcing team support schools to understand and navigate the process through which educators can access disability resourcing, which includes the allocation of resources to schools through the Individual Disability Allocation. As team leader you will facilitate the planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of Individual Disability Allocation methodologies through evidence-based approaches, professional learning, online resources and data analysis, and provide advice to senior personnel within the directorate and the Department.
To be successful in this role you will need to have substantial knowledge and understanding of the supports required for students with disability to participate in the full school experience and achieve success. You will also possess the ability to undertake research, review contemporary practices, and develop capacity building initiatives for schools.

- Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills, including extensive experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports, Ministerials, briefing notes and policy.
- Demonstrated highly developed organisational skills with a proven ability to deliver outcomes on schedule in a demanding environment and under tight timeframes.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
