Gilmore College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join their team.
The successful applicant should be a committed and highly motivated educator with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. To be suitable for this role, you will be student and relationship focused, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment. You should reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of your teaching practice using a variety of methods available within the school and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve success.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to apply their expertise of the English Learning Area across Years 7 to 12, utilising their knowledge and teaching experience in senior school Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE), to encourage and support our students to achieve outstanding results. The successful applicant should also have an understanding of how to differentiate their teaching to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.
The capacity to teach Australian Admission Tertiary Rank (ATAR) courses and previous experience or qualifications teaching English would be highly regarded. In addition, experience and/or knowledge teaching specialist low level literacy programs is also desirable.
Gilmore College is an Independent public school which opened in 2008 continuing 52 previous years of secondary education provided by Kwinana Senior High School. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
