This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2023.
Banksia Grove Primary School (PS) is seeking an energetic and highly motivated Arts Specialist. We strongly encourage applicants to apply if they have a strength in Music, Drama and/or the Visual Arts. The Arts Specialist should be able to engage students across a range of ability levels across our inclusive school years; Pre-Primary to Year 6.
At Banksia Grove PS, students are at the centre of everything we do. We have a strong focus on the cultural diversity of our community, including the embedding of Noongar language across our school. The ability to work closely with administration, our Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer, other teaching and non-teaching staff and community organisations will ideally be a core responsibility and expectation of the successful applicant.
The applicant should have the ability to provide highly effective classroom management skills and the ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum that caters for individual student needs. Experience in running a school choir, producing a senior school musical production, working as the Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) liaison and teaching and showcasing visual arts projects would be desirable.
The applicant will ideally support the school's four strategic initiatives – Improving student achievement through high quality instruction, building strong and sustainable partnerships, developing cultural awareness, building social and emotional competencies, and be committed to our whole school PBS approach.
The successful applicant should have strong interpersonal skills and will ideally be able to work collaboratively across our diverse, multicultural school environment. An ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within a progressive, committed and caring staff is highly desirable.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
