We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
Waroona District High School (DHS) is an Independent Public School (IPS) seeking dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Science teachers with excellent interpersonal skills.

You will ideally possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school Science curriculum. Furthermore, you should possess a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection.
The expectations in this role are about promoting an environment of active and positive learning, and providing educational opportunities and activities which cater for different student learning needs and enable students to achieve success. Experience differentiating curriculum and proven outcomes catering to students with educational needs will be highly regarded. An ability and the qualifications to teach across other learning areas will also be highly desirable.
Waroona DHS has approximately 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 10. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations. Suitable applicants will ideally have experience in instructional classroom management strategies for effective classroom behaviours, which facilitate learning. This focus on social and emotional development is crucial to the success of the delivery of the curriculum.
The teaching expectation is, every teacher is delivering explicit teaching strategies and utilising formative assessment and data analysis to provide quality and effective teaching practices that target students’ needs. As a PBS school we value quality teaching and know that we must and can provide highly effective emotional and social support to improve the academic outcomes of all students. Our staff demonstrate care for our students as individuals so that they are fully prepared for success in a rapidly changing world.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
