Are you a teacher looking to make a positive difference in our indigenous communities and provide students in these locations an opportunity to achieve?
We are looking for committed and culturally responsive teachers to fill a range of immediate vacancies in Early Childhood Education, Primary and Secondary. Please include your preference in your application. Placement in the pool will also enable you to be considered for fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that will become available prior to the end of 2023.

Principals and teachers from across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands School campuses will be available to provide information and answer questions about the experience of living and teaching in some of the most remote schools in Australia. The focus of this event is to provide an opportunity to meet current staff and become equipped with all the information you need to make an informed choice to become a remote Aboriginal community teacher with the Ngaanyatjarra Lands School.

Personal and Professional Benefits
- Remote Teaching Service Allowance of $20,870 per year
- Locality allowance of between $3,869 and $4,356 per year depending on location
- 10 percent employer contributions to superannuation
- 12 weeks’ vacation leave (school holidays)
- 10 weeks Remote Teaching Service leave upon completion of six semesters of continuous service, or 22 weeks after eight semesters
- More than 20 days of other leave, including sick leave and carers’ leave

How to Apply
This is a two-step selection process.
You will need to demonstrate your competency – in the context of these roles – against the criteria related to working in a remote school and the Professional Domains from the AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, addressing only Domain 1, Professional Knowledge:

Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Domains will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.
Step 1
Complete the attached Written Statement Template and prepare a CV of no more than three (3) pages. Your CV should have details of your training and work history relevant to the position you’re applying for, and the contact details of two (2) professional referees who can comment on the claims made in your documents. It’s preferred if one is your current line manager. Referees may be contacted at this stage to validate information provided in your documents.
Step 2
A selection panel will review and assess the information provided in your CV and Written Statement. If you are competitive, you will be invited to an online interview.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Prior to employment, applicants will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
Employees will also be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
