Leonora District High School (DHS) is seeking an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher to join their highly motivated team.

About the Role
The successful applicant will ideally exhibit quality teaching and possess good knowledge of ECE philosophy, National Quality Standard (NQS) and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
The successful applicant should be flexible and willing to work as part of a team. You will be committed to putting students first in decision-making. The successful applicant will foster and maintain positive communication and relationships within the school and wider community.
You should deliver motivating and quality educational programs and believe that exemplary, evidence-based teaching practices lead to successful students and high standards of achievement.
Our School
Located in the Goldfields-Esperance region, north of Kalgoorlie, Leonora DHS caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Leonora DHS has a long history of supporting the local community by embracing the Cultural diversity, that is Leonora. With 112 student enrolments, 79% being of Aboriginal heritage, the school embeds the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework throughout the curriculum.
Our priority is to develop positive relationships with students to ensure they become confident, well-balanced, lifelong learners. Leonora DHS provides a learning environment from Pre Kindergarten (Kindilink) through to Year 12 and our vision is to engage students throughout their learning journey to enable them to go on to further education, training or local employment after they successfully complete Year 12. We listen to parents and community members in order to know what issues our students face and what they want for their children’s future. In creating and maintaining a collaborative environment, we are able to work together to achieve a common goal – that the academic, physical and social-emotional needs of our students, and community, are met.

The Location and Community
Leonora is the largest commercial centre north of Kalgoorlie and offers many services and facilities for everyone to enjoy. Discovered and named in 1869 by the great pioneer of Western Australia, John Forrest, it has a picturesque main street and many historic buildings. Surrounding the town are old gold mining centres and cemeteries that are popular with visitors interested in Australian gold rush history and genealogy.
The town hosts many of the Northern Goldfields’ events, from outback horse race meetings to the annual Golden Gift – a weekend of entertainment and athletics event held on the Western Australian Day long weekend in June.

Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
