Waroona District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and passionate Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be highly competent, enthusiastic and possess excellent interpersonal skills while utilising highly effective teaching practices. Suitable applicants should have highly developed professional and practical knowledge in Primary curriculum, a willingness to seek constant improvement as well as the ability to cater to multi age groups and have highly refined classroom management skills. Experience and successful outcomes working with Aboriginal students, students with special educational needs and students with challenging behaviours is paramount. The ability to develop good relationships with students and engage them in highly effective learning is also fundamental to this role.
The ability to integrate Information Computer Technology (ICT), provide blended learning opportunities and application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) processes is highly desirable. Experience with Explicit Instruction Let’s Decode, Promoting Literacy Development (PLD) or other Literacy intervention programs would be well regarded.
Flexibility in a District High School context is integral to this role, as is a commitment to personal and professional growth. Waroona DHS has approximately 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 10. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations. Suitable applicants will ideally exhibit instructional classroom management strategies for effective classroom behaviours, which facilitate learning. This focus on social and emotional development is crucial to the success of the delivery of the curriculum.
The teaching expectation is that every teacher is delivering explicit teaching strategies and utilising formative assessment and data analysis to provide quality and effective teaching practices that target students’ needs. As a PBS school we value quality teaching and know that we must and can provide highly effective emotional and social support to improve the academic outcomes of all students. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
