About the Role
This role will suit someone who is relationship-focused, highly motivated, and passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences to ignite a desire to learn in students.
We are seeking a person to join our team who has a strong knowledge of instructional practices and the ability to explain their application of Explicit Instruction processes, describing clearly how this has improved educational outcomes for every child. Ideally, your written application will outline highly effective behaviour support practices and cultural responsiveness as part of your suitability for this teaching position. The successful applicant should be supportive of whole school processes with a sound understanding of the Western Australian (WA) Curriculum as prescribed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). As part of working within a small school setting is it desirable that, as part of your application, you describe the relationships you have previously built with families and community.
Working at Onslow School will provide different challenges and opportunities so the successful applicant should possess the ability to work independently, particularly with planning of teaching and learning programs. A highly desirable attribute is collaboration that involves contributing to and listening to other ideas and opinions when involved in whole-school decision making processes. Onslow School offers a range of opportunities through the committee structure as a contributor or leader which invites diversity in skill sets.

Remote Community School
Schools in the Remote Teaching Service are located in some of the most isolated parts of the State. They may be in community settings or small towns, and the majority of students are from local Aboriginal families. They deliver flexible and innovative education programs to ensure students in remote areas have access to high quality learning programs.
Teaching in a remote school offers a range of professional opportunities for teachers who are engaging and resilient. If you are flexible and like working as part of a team you have the opportunity to be part of this innovative learning community. Skills and interests in literacy, numeracy and English as an additional language/dialect (EAL/D) are highly valued.
Teachers who live and work in the remote teaching service tell us that it makes them better teachers, and better people. The Department of Education also supports our teachers by providing a range of additional allowances and benefits.
For additional information to all allowances and housing please contact Housing and Transport at housing.transport@education.wa.edu.au or on (08) 9264 5154.
