WA College of Agriculture – Narrogin (WACOA – Narrogin) is seeking a dedicated Sheep Technical Officer who is passionate about working with young adults in an agricultural education environment.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic and friendly staff member who takes pride in educating students to their highest level. The successful applicant will be required to have sound communication and experience in many facets of agriculture. To be successful in this role you will have experience in Sheep Management and Sheep Husbandry systems relevant to WACOA – Narrogin. Experience working in teams to achieve shared goals and high level communication skills with a cheerful outlook are useful skills in this role.
Experience in a training environment ideally with upper aged secondary students would be desirable though not essential. The successful applicant would be expected and assisted, to achieve qualifications necessary for the role if they didn’t already possess them. Knowledge, experience and competency within an agricultural sheep management, sheep husbandry, shearing, wool classing and or wool handling experience is highly desirable.
The WACOA – Narrogin has a long and proud history of servicing the agricultural community of Western Australia. Established in 1906, Narrogin is the oldest agricultural College in the state and consistently ranks in the Top Public Schools for Vocational Education and Training. Students in years 10 through to 12 enrol from all over the state and the majority board on site in attractive residential facilities with individual air conditioned rooms.
The course is centred on agriculture and related trades and students have access to education and training in industry relevant facilities. The theory of agriculture learned in the class program is coupled with practical skills developed on the college's 1340 hectare farm which operates a number of commercial scale enterprises. Students enjoy a varied week with full days out of the class environment and rostered to either farm or the trades workshops.
The college is an education facility 6kms from a regional town with good recreational facilities and shopping. The college has a friendly and professional staffing team. The Department of Education provides further professional training to suitable applicants.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described.
The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal). However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 or L3.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.
Level 2, $62,172 - $67,256 per annum (PSCA 2019)
Level 3, $70,896 - $76,717 per annum (PSCA 2019)
