La Grange Remote Community School (RCS) are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Manager Corporate Services (MCS) to join their student-focused team.
The successful applicant will ideally have effective interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence with an ability to develop constructive, respectful, and positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
The MCS works as part of the supportive school leadership team, leading and implementing the strategic, financial, and operational resource management of the school, in a culturally responsive manner. We are focused on the resourcing of evidence-based programs. You will develop the school’s Education Assistant and Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) Professional Learning and Management processes. This role will also require the successful applicant to contribute to the design and implementation of the school’s new strategic plan.
The successful applicant will ideally have excellent organisational and communication skills. You will ideally have strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to implement a coaching model for improved staff performance. You should have a history of working effectively as part of a team and the ability to work with all school stakeholders to develop strong community relationships and links with staff, students, and families. You should display a commitment to high-level educational outcomes for Aboriginal students.
A knowledge of Student-Centred Funding, Compass student management system, Integris secondary timetabling, RM Finance including Billing, the Education Department Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), Staff Performance Management and a high-level financial management skill with solid analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills is highly desirable. The successful applicant will administer and report on the financial integrity of the school's business operations.
We are looking for someone who is flexible and adaptable in a remote setting, with a positive attitude. You should be open, honest, and reliable and have an understanding of how your role impacts the educational outcomes of students, and the impact you have on staff and the leadership team.
La Grange RCS is the largest Remote Community School in the state and caters to the educational needs of all school aged children in the Bidyadanga community, with classes ranging from Pre-Kindergarten (0-3 years old) up to Year 12.
In addition to a strong commitment to developing the literacy and numeracy skills of its students, La Grange RCS offers a diverse range of specialist programs across all year levels including music, art, physical education and information technology and a focus on cultural learning.
Our staff are an improvement-focused team, centred around feedback and trust. The successful applicant should have a clear understanding of the Stronger Smarter approach and philosophy and will be asked to complete the online learning module upon appointment.
La Grange RCS is situated in the Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community in the Kimberley region, on Karajarri country, 180 km south of Broome. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements (selection criteria):
- Leadership skills in the delivery of business outcomes and sound customer service principles and practices.
- Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to use effective negotiation skills.
- Sound financial management skills, including budget preparation and the ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting practices and procedures.
- Sound human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and systems.
- Ability to provide input into the development, implementation and monitoring of business and marketing plans.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
