This is a sixteen (16) month fixed term full-time position commencing ASAP with possible extension.
The Role and our Branch
Statewide Services is seeking to appoint a motivated educator, who is passionate about improving outcomes for students, to join our team.

The Department is establishing the WA Student Council for public school students to provide direct input regarding issues that impact students. The focus of this role is to lead the strategy and implement the council and other student voice forums, including being the key connection with students.
A strength of the council will be its diverse membership. You will create productive and safe environments through inclusive strategies and well-thought-out approaches to engage and support all students. This role requires a culturally responsive leader committed to strengthening the wellbeing, engagement and achievement of Aboriginal children and young people. The delivery of this initiative will be informed by the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.
Important to this role, is liaising with various stakeholders including colleagues at Statewide Services, schools, regions, community, and Central Services. Ideally, you will use your strong interpersonal and communication skills to work autonomously and within a team environment to deliver the project.
The role requires careful planning, and operational requirements to ensure the smooth running of activities or events with students.
In addition, you will assist with the preparation of reports and briefing papers on evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning and the support needs of teachers.

Statewide Services provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement and educational outcomes, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. Schools can submit a Request for Assistance to access support when facing significant challenges, for example support required for whole school practices where student wellbeing, engagement performance and/or progress is at significant risk.

- Demonstrated substantial knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning practices and requirements in relevant area/s of specialist expertise.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing, monitoring and reviewing professional learning and support programs in relevant area/s of specialist expertise.
- Demonstrated highly developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build partnerships and integrate services both within and beyond the Department.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with change and generate innovative solutions related to teaching and learning issues.
- Demonstrated highly developed written communication and presentation skills, including experience in the preparation of reports, briefings and other documentation to support and inform senior officers.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
