Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) are seeking to establish a pool of contemporary Digital Technologies teacher with a passion for engaging students in modern technologies and to develop curious learners,
Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate and dedicated educators, innovative practitioners and be highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They will provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Digital Technologies.
Suitable applicants will ideally be able to display the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a highly engaging manner. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one or more Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable, including Applied Information Technology and Computer Science.
Joseph Banks SC is the Northern Perth P-TECH Partnership School. P-TECH is a world leading education model that offers secondary school students an industry supported pathway to a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) qualification. Our P-TECH focus is Cyber Security. It would be advantageous for suitable applicants to hold a Certificate IV Training and Assessment, and a relevant Certificate in Information Technology or Information, Digital Media and Technology or knowledge of cyber security.
Suitable applicants will ideally be collaborative teachers with the ability to work well in a team environment. The College has state of the art facilities and equipment, and offers a wide variety of courses from Years 7-12 including: cyber security, robotics, coding, website development, graphic design, engineering and information technology and other STEM related courses and initiatives, including the development of Mechatronics and the integration of new technology using CAD and drawing software to utilise 3D printers and laser cutters.
Suitable applicants will ideally be teachers who engage their students and challenge them to achieve their personal best through innovative learning opportunities and those who are able to teach students of varying ability levels, differentiating the curriculum, in a highly engaging manner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.
Joseph Banks SC is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth CBD. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
