Seeking dedicated and passionate educators to join our expanding team
Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) are seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
Suitable applicants should be passionate and dedicated educators, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. You will provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their understanding and appreciation of English.
Suitable applicants should have high expectations, exhibit a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. You should possess an ability to work as a collaborative team member and you will be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success. Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 to 12 in a highly engaging manner. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of English or Literature Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable.
Suitable applicants should have a strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support literacy skills development and strong performance in National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA). Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of innovative and engaging Information and Communications Technology (ICT) based technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable. As such, suitable applicants will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
Joseph Banks SC, an Independent Public School, is located in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 27 km from the Perth Central Business District (CBD). We currently accept students from Years 7 to 12. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
