Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Japanese Language Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be relationship focused and able to display strong interpersonal skills, while working collaboratively in a large team environment. With high expectations and a strong commitment to excellence, suitable applicants should display a willingness and ability to effectively teach students of all levels from Years 7 to 12 and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
Using flexible and differentiated teaching strategies, languages teachers at Willetton employ inclusive practices to motivate all students, including those in the Gifted and Talented and Academic Extension programs, those for whom English is an Additional Language, Learning Support students as well as Students at Educational Risk.
Detailed knowledge of the West Australian Curriculum: Languages, as well as Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Japanese courses is also desirable. All Languages teachers have a role in leading curriculum planning in the learning area, as well as promoting language learning across the school community.
Willetton SHS is a Teacher Development School (TDS) for Languages. TDSs deliver practical, school-based professional learning opportunities for teachers and school leaders to learn directly from the successful practices of others. Suitable applicants will be part of the team which supports the professional learning of languages teachers throughout Western Australia.
Willetton SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, drawing its student enrolment from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. With a student population in excess of 2600 and approximately 220 teaching staff and 120 support staff on campus the school is inclusive and comprehensive providing courses for Years 7 to 12. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
