Burns Beach Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
We are looking for exceptional educators who possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and are committed to supporting their students to achieve excellent educational outcomes. These skills will see you establish positive and respectful relationships with your students and their families, your colleagues, and the broader school community as we build and grow our unique, inclusive and high-performing school. In the context of a new school and a growing school population, suitable applicants will ideally possess professional flexibility and the ability to anticipate and adapt to changing circumstances as they arise.
Suitable applicants will assist in the provision of a specialist education program, tailored to the individual needs of students with disability in one of our education support classes. They will deliver differentiated teaching and structured learning environments in which the required instructional, curriculum and environmental adjustments support all students to achieve to their potential.
Suitable applicants should possess a deep knowledge of pedagogy specific to students with disability. They should be able to describe effective strategies to engage and achieve high-quality outcomes for students with a range of disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, physical disabilities, cognitive disability and for students with social-emotional and behavioural needs. The use of modified assessment and fine-grained data to inform the ongoing development of targeted intervention and teaching and learning programs is also valued. Ideally, applicants will be committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for students, particularly in the areas of communication, literacy and numeracy, self-management care and social-emotional skills through the effective use of whole school approaches, Applied Behaviour Analysis and explicit teaching. Applicants who have the capacity to show leadership in these areas are encouraged to apply. Suitable applicants should also possess knowledge of high-level positive behaviour support strategies and have the ability to develop individualised behaviour support plans for students. The capacity to display leadership attributes and skills to manage and lead a team of Education Assistants and/or teams outside of the classroom would also be of benefit to the suitable applicants.

Teachers within our ECE phase of learning will promote the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards. They will recognise that students need opportunities to interact and build trusting relationships. Programs include planned, purposeful play, balanced with the explicit teaching of essential foundation skills and concepts.
Our whole school, evidence-based approaches ensure that every student acquires the core literacy and numeracy skills, as well as the knowledge, understanding, and attitudes to become confident 21st century learners. Our school supports our students to develop a depth of learning appropriate to students’ phase of development, in all learning areas of the Western Australian Curriculum, along with the general capabilities.
The ability to establish genuine, positive, and caring relationships with our students is paramount. Our pastoral care whole-school approaches ensure each student is engaged, belongs, and feels connected to our school. Knowledge, understanding and experience in implementing Classroom Management Strategies (CMS), Instructional Strategies for Engagement (ISE), Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Social Emotional Learning, and Protective Behaviours is highly desirable. We work as a team to support our students to successfully develop their dispositions for learning such as curiosity, openness, optimism, resilience, concentration, and critical and creative thinking.

All educators will take a personal and collective responsibility for improving student learning and wellbeing and will work together and learn from each other’s practices, utilising strategies such as peer observations and walkthroughs. Burns Beach PS educators participate in whole school, phase of learning and curriculum teams to contribute to whole school approaches to teaching and learning. The Education Support Program will be highly specialised and aligned with effective, contemporary pedagogy for students with a range of cognitive, developmental, physical, sensory, and social/emotional needs.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
