Eaton Community College (CC) is seeking an inspiring and dynamic educational leader to join the senior leadership group. This exciting opportunity is for an instructional leader who possesses the vision, experience, professional knowledge and skills required to guide and support the development of staff, to improve outcomes for our students.
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the management of a complex, multi-disciplinary Arts team (including Drama, Visual Arts, Design and Media). The role will involve significant levels of accountability balanced with expectation regarding the development of a cohesive team. The successful applicant will appreciate and understand that there is a context of explicit whole school improvement and that Eaton has recently experienced excellent academic success. Improvements in the Arts will contribute to sustaining and building on this success. As a Senior Leader the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the members of the senior leadership team and the wider school community to provide educational leadership, as well as develop and promote the school’s vision and strategic direction.
In this role, the Program Coordinator will apply a high level of understanding of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) standards and the Western Australian Curriculum. They will monitor and track student progress in The Arts, reflect on and assess the effectiveness of teaching practices and engage staff to revitalise curriculum to ensure that teaching and learning programs are responsive to the needs of our students, incorporating explicit, direct instruction. The successful applicant will utilise evidence-based teaching practices whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods and innovative initiatives. They will also be highly motivated and student focused and be able to work effectively to develop the team. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for managing the financial and physical resources of the diverse Arts disciplines and establishing whole school initiatives to invigorate the Learning Area. With effective interpersonal skills, they will work closely with students, teachers and the community to inspire as well as instil rigour and excellence, enabling students to achieve to their full potential.

All staff are expected to adhere to the Department of Education Code of Conduct and actively participate in the school community. In addition, we provide every student with an Apple MacBook and therefore it is expected that staff will maximise the use of the web-based student portal Connect to provide online teaching, learning and assessments and transition away from a paper-based classroom.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to Commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
