This is a twenty-four (24) month fixed term, part-time (0.2FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2022
We are seeking a passionate early year’s leader to coordinate this exciting special project with the Karratha Education Network.
To be successful in this role the successful applicant should have the skill set to drive sustainable change in Early Childhood Education (ECE) while advocating for early learning and partnering with families to ensure success for students.
Within this role the successful applicant would coordinate, administer and manage the Karratha Education Network ECE and Care network and also encourage interagency collaboration focussed on collective impact. The ability to create parent information and resources related to the importance of early childhood development including relevant key developmental milestones is highly desirable.
You will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the importance of early intervention for children, you should also understand ECE developmental delays to engage with stakeholders to investigate funding opportunities for the sustainability of the role. You should build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve the transition processes between early childhood agencies and providers to kindergarten. We are seeking an induvial who is performance driven and can effectively use Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) data for the Network to guide decision making and strategic directions of the Early Childhood and Care Network.
The Karratha Education Network is one of three networks in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia and comprises 10 public schools. The Network has partnered with Rio Tinto with the purpose of the partnership to enhance education services and improve education outcomes through a collective impact approach in our network of schools
The Early Years aspect of the Partnership focuses on a strengthened community-based approach to ensuring all students start school well-prepared. This strategy targets children’s readiness for school by provision of a well-coordinated approach to services and early intervention to address areas of concern.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
