Kalbarri District High School (DHS) is seeking a motivated and engaging Health and Physical Education Teacher to join their high-quality regional school.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence-based teaching approach. We are seeking applicants who can create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring and creative, and that caters for the range of needs so all students may achieve and progress. Applicants will have knowledge and experience with Explicit Teaching methods.
We are seeking applicants who are enthusiastic with a keen interest in Health and Physical Education and who are able to instil this enthusiasm in students. You will ideally possess understanding and professional knowledge relevant to the primary school Health and Physical Education curriculum and Secondary Outdoor Education learning programs. This role is primarily teaching outside of the classroom and will require strong organisational skills to organise both school and interschool carnivals, while also attending various secondary camps. A willingness to gain the necessary certification, if required, is desirable. Experience delivering an engaging Primary Digital Technology, and Design and Technology program is highly desirable for this position.
We are looking for applicants that have an excellent capacity to communicate clearly and concisely with staff, students and the community and the ability to articulate a clear vision that complements and supports the school’s excellent culture in teaching and learning. You will ideally have success when teaching students in this learning area, as well as the capacity to improve your own performance through reflection. Knowledge of the curriculum area, ability to work in a team environment and a willingness to be a part of a strong and supportive pastoral care system that runs through the school is highly valued.
Kalbarri DHS is a friendly school, nurturing children from Kindergarten to Year 12. Kalbarri has a stable, experienced, high quality staff, who provide a safe and caring class environment for our students whilst presenting a comprehensive and challenging curriculum. Students have access to computers and iPads enabling them to develop independent learning, research, presentation and coding skills.
Kalbarri DHS is situated in the picturesque tourist town of Kalbarri. We are surrounded by a National Park and the township is located at the mouth of the Murchison River. The permanent population of the town is around 2000, with this increasing to 10,000 during the tourist season. The community is mainly reliant on tourism, hospitality and the fishing industry. We have students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and as a Teacher you will have opportunities for interaction with students at all age levels.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
