Kalamunda Senior Highschool (SHS) is seeking a dedicated Teacher - English to join their team.
The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to teach English and Humanities and be able to effectively engage students in positive classroom learning. They will ideally be highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills. The successful applicant will ideally be skilled in instructional and curriculum design with the ability to deliver high quality teaching and learning programs which engage students in their learning.
In this position you will teach Year 7 students in both English and Humanities as part of a dynamic Year 7 Learning Team. You may also teach a class in either English or Humanities outside of this year group depending on the needs of the school. The successful applicant will ideally be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, working collaboratively across both the English and Humanities learning areas. Applicants who have undertaken the Switch Program in either English or Humanities would be encouraged to apply for this position.
Kalamunda SHS also has a Learning Centre to support literacy and numeracy development in the school and students with English as an Additional Language. The successful applicant will also work together with the Learning Centre Coordinator to provide appropriate support to students as required.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
