This is a permanent part-time (0.2FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2022
The successful applicant will be required to ensure the library environment is safely maintained and at an acceptable level of tidiness, including the maintenance of equipment and displays, repairing damaged books and covering new books.
The successful applicant will ideally need to operate our library system and ensure library records are up-to-date, ensuring all new resources and deleted and archived items are recorded and resources are correctly bar coded. In addition, you will also maintain and process loans and returns of library resources in a timely and effective manner so they are accessible and available to staff, students and parents at all times.
The successful applicant will also be required to manage enquiries and guide students, staff and parents in locating library resources and information.
The successful applicant should ideally have a bright, effervescent personality and be enthusiastic about education. You should display an outstanding ability to work in a team, as well as an ability to work independently and unassisted, at times. It is essential that applicants have highly developed interpersonal skills and an ability to quickly establish a rapport with staff, students and parents/carers.
Augusta PS is located in the beautiful seaside town of Augusta where the Indian and Southern Ocean meet and the whales annually come to play. In this unique location we have a wealth of history and landmarks, featuring the Leeuwin Lighthouse; the tallest mainland lighthouse in the Southern Hemisphere. Augusta and the primary school have a strong sense of community where everybody works together to achieve and build success across a range of domains.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
- good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
- ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- ability to provide administrative support and organise and prioritise tasks effectively.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
