Willetton Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool of Health and Physical Education (HPE) - Certificate Based Course Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be enthusiastic, creative and passionate HPE teachers with a specialty in Certificate Based Courses. They will be responsible for contributing to and supporting the collaborative approach already in place to further develop a culture of excellence in the HPE teaching and learning program.
Suitable applicants should possess highly effective interpersonal skills, be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated. They should also have an inclusive approach with strong teaching and classroom management skills and the ability to challenge and engage all students, promoting an environment of active and positive learning.
The Certificate Based Courses Program at Willetton SHS aims to provide students with opportunities to engage in a specific sporting context that enhances the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes promoting and enhancing personal and group engagement in lifelong healthy practices. It is highly desirable that suitable applicants have the ability and hold qualifications to teach Certificate III Fitness, Sports and Recreation II and Sport Coaching II. Applicants with a bus license will be viewed favourably.
Suitable applicants may be required to teach lower school HPE classes and experience with Physical Education Studies delivery would be advantageous. Further, an ability to contribute to the schools extra-curricular Interschool Sporting Program would be highly desirable.
Willetton SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, drawing its student enrolment from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
