Burns Beach Primary School (PS) is seeking a hard-working and dedicated Primary Teacher – Physical Education for permanent appointment.
Suitable applicants should possess excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum; be able to deliver content in an engaging manner; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a highly effective team member. Suitable applicants will also ideally be able to teach Physical Education across a range of ability levels and should possess sound interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to work cooperatively in a learning area team. Sound classroom management, the ability to develop rapport and motivate students, differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs, and to practise a range of teaching strategies are key aspects of this position.
Suitable applicants should preferably possess strong organisational and interpersonal skills, and ideally will have demonstrated experience in organising sporting events both within the school and in an interschool capacity. Initially, you may also be required to teach a second learning area, such as Science, as we are a growing school.

The ability to establish genuine, positive and caring relationships with our students is paramount. Knowledge, understanding and experience in implementing Classroom Management Strategies (CMS), Instructional Strategies for Engagement (ISE), Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Social Emotional Learning and Protective Behaviours is highly desirable. We work as a team to support our students to successfully develop their dispositions for learning such as curiosity, openness, optimism, resilience, concentration and, critical and creative thinking.

All educators will take a personal and collective responsibility for improving student learning and wellbeing, and work together and learn from each other’s practices, utilising strategies such as peer observations and walkthroughs. Burns Beach PS educators will participate in whole school, phase of learning and curriculum teams to contribute to whole school approaches to teaching and learning.
Burns Beach PS is situated in the beautiful beachside suburb of Burns Beach and opened its doors to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in January 2022.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
