Balcatta Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Science teacher, to join our Science Department.
As a Science Teacher at Balcatta SHS you should be dedicated, innovative and an inspirational educator with a passion for Science education. Experience in the successful delivery of Science curriculums in lower and senior school Science is highly desirable. The successful applicant will have the capacity to plan and implement high quality lessons that engage students and inspire an interest in Science. The ability and capacity to teach any upper school ATAR Science course as well as the willingness to teach Mathematics is advantageous for this role.
The successful applicant will support the implementation of the school business plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and have a strong evidenced based approach. The capacity to use data and make evidence based decisions is also crucial.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships, are highly desirable. As the successful applicant, you should be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach. Ideally you will be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and leadership, and desirably have the proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
At Balcatta SHS we are committed to providing an engaging, creative and challenging curriculum focussed on twenty first Century Learning Skills in an inclusive learning community with strong emphasis on pastoral care and student achievement. The school is currently in the second year of POD (Parent Owned Devices) and the ability to grow student engagement and staff capacity in the Science learning area with the use of technology is will be highly regarded.
Balcatta SHS is situated in the northern suburbs of Perth and has benefited from a recent completion of major building projects, securing the school new state of the art facilities. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
