We are seeking Teachers who pursue excellence in teaching, have high expectations, and who truly believe that all children can learn and be successful. Applicants should be committed to putting students first in their decision-making and provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for differentiated student learning needs as outlined in the Western Australian Curriculum. You will ideally deliver motivating and quality educational programs and believe that exemplary, evidence-based teaching practices lead to successful students and high standards of achievement.
Suitable applicants should exhibit a strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. They should also possess the ability to plan for school improvement using and responding to all data sources, ensuring curriculum and pedagogical development is current and ongoing. Suitable applicants should be flexible, adaptive, and be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching.
We are seeking applicants who are innovative and possess high quality teaching skills and knowledge. You will ideally be committed to ongoing professional growth and development, support current whole school processes and be a collegial, effective collaborator.
Christmas Island DHS is located 360 km southwest of Java and 2 600 km northwest of Perth. We cater for over 200 students from Pre-primary to Year 12 on our main site and more than 20 Kindergarten students at the Tom Patterson Kindergarten Centre. Our school is well resourced which means class sizes are kept small and extra support is provided to classes in the areas of literacy, numeracy, information and communications technology, and pastoral care. Our commitment to valuing the home languages of the island means that students are offered the opportunity to learn either Mandarin or Bahasa Malay languages.
