Appointment Pool
Are you motivated by the opportunity to work in a great school?
Meadow Springs Education Support Centre (ESC) are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
Meadow Springs ESC caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who have an Intellectual Disability and or Autism. Currently we have 72 students in our school from K-6. Based on current enrolments 90% of our students have a primary diagnosis of Autism and 60% of our students have complex communication needs. The Education Support Centre has 9 classrooms that are integrated throughout the Meadow Springs school site. At Meadow Springs our shared belief is that we are two schools but one School Community to which all staff, students and parents belong.
Our school vision is “We are an inclusive school that provides positive learning for everyone as we discover our potential together.” We believe that every student is unique and as we work together, we will ensure we focus on what is most important for each student. We are a Positive Behaviour Support School (PBS) which means we focus on the positive and believe in teaching the behaviours (academic and social) that we expect from our students. Our three behaviour expectations are – I am RESPECTFUL; I am SAFE and I try my BEST. Teachers are expected to work within a positive school’s framework to teach, shape and reinforce positive behaviours.
Classroom design in every classroom is purposefully created to ensure success for all students. Visual supports are in place for all students as well as a token economy and individualised reward system. In addition, students earn PBS Dojo Points as part of our PBS program for demonstrating behaviours that are safe, respectful and trying your best. Students with complex communication needs (CCN) have a communication system in place. We have a whole school approach to supporting students with CNN which includes common visuals and the expectation that staff will attend training and develop proficiency in using alternative modes of communication such as Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD).
Each class has a team of education assistants that work with the teacher to support the learning needs of the students. Teachers are expected to actively lead and support the staff in their team. This includes coordinating weekly meetings, providing training, and providing performance based feedback (positive and constructive). The desire to invest in developing positive working relationships with students, parents and colleagues is a key focus for all staff at our school.
Our staff are expected to possess a preparedness to collaborate with and support other colleagues in the development and implementation of the school’s curriculum. This includes ensuring access to the curriculum for all students, inclusive of their individual needs. Staff commitment to implementing whole-school curriculum policies and programs in English, Maths and Health & Wellbeing needs to be evident.
If you are a teacher who models exemplary practice, are a proven team player who focusses on developing safe, positive, and productive learning environments for students, are continually looking for ways to improve your practices, develop new skills and aspire to be the best that you can be, then Meadow Springs ESC could well be the place for you.
