Muludja Remote Community School (RCS) and Ngalapita RCS are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Manager Corporate Services (MCS) to join their friendly teams. The successful applicant will be required to work across both locations. This position is based at the Kimberley Education Regional Office in Broome and requires annual travel to both schools.
The successful applicant will manage the school’s financial, physical, and human resources and supervise all school support staff. They will administer and report on the financial integrity of the school’s business operations and provide input into financial planning and budgeting as well as the administration and reporting of the diverse funding entities for which the school is responsible. In collaboration with the Principal, they will provide operational input to the development of the School Business and Marketing Plans and monitor the school’s financial performance against the plans.
The successful applicant will ideally possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a team environment, to assist with communicating with clients and other school staff.
Muludja RCS was opened in 1991. It is situated within Muludja Community, 35 km east of Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia. The community is situated on the flood plains adjacent to the Margaret River. It is 5 km from Fossil Downs Station homestead, which is situated on the other side of the river. The community was originally situated at Fossil Downs with the present site being established in the early 1990s. All the buildings in the community are raised above the ground. There are 30 houses in the community with an approximate population of 100 residents. The population, excluding teachers, is 100% aboriginal. The first language is Kriol and the local language is Gooniyandi. Standard Australian English is the children’s second language.
Ngalapita RCS first opened its doors on December 1, 2003. The name for the school comes from a nearby billabong which is central to the lives of the Aboriginal people, who, apart from the teachers, make up this community. The student cohort is between 10 and 25, though itinerant students add to the population on a seasonal basis. Walmajarri is the traditional language of the members of this community. Most of the children speak Kriol as their first language.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements (selection criteria):
- Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Financial management skills, including input into budget preparation and the ability to apply financial and accounting practices and procedures.
- Human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and systems.
- Ability to implement and monitor business and/or marketing plans.
- Conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
