Appointment Pool
Port Kennedy Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2023.
We are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated applicants who possess exemplary teaching skills, including Explicit Instruction (Prime Maths, Spelling Mastery, Daily Reviews and Engagement). Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to work in an environment characterised by whole school connected practice, a strong commitment to professional growth and collaborative team structures.
It is desirable that applicants possess a sound knowledge of Classroom Management Strategies and Trauma Informed Practice. Applicants should be willing to engage in coaching to improve performance and show data informed practice, have an evidence based approach and strong curriculum knowledge of English and Maths.
Our team works together to foster and encourage innovation and make student academic achievement the core of our work. Suitable applicants should ideally be highly organised, have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and work as part of a team. You will be expected to develop and consolidate classroom teaching programs utilising our whole school approaches which are based on effective, contemporary curriculum, pedagogy and practice.
Port Kennedy PS opened in 1996 and caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. In 2017 we proudly became an Independent Public School and provide an exceptional service to our families and local community. We have a passionate and experienced staff who are dedicated to providing a broad and inspiring curriculum that challenges and meets the learning needs of our students.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
