Appointment Pool
Willetton Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool of Mathematics Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
We require teachers who ideally have proven experience in teaching in this learning area, are relationship focused and able to display strong interpersonal skills while working collaboratively in a team environment.
Suitable applicants will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole school approach to the educational programs offered. Applicants should be able to display a willingness to lead curriculum development and teaching pedagogy to meet the needs of students from Years 7 to 12. Applicants with the knowledge and practice to teach one or more Senior School courses in this and another learning area are encouraged to apply.
Willetton SHS has a student population in excess of 2600 and the school is inclusive and comprehensive, providing courses for Years 7 to 12. The school successfully caters for the academic, social and emotional development of students with diverse educational needs including those with English as an Additional Language or Dialect background, Special Needs and Gifted and Talented students.
There are approximately 220 teaching staff and 120 support staff on campus. Willetton SHS staff recognise that students are individuals with different histories, interests, abilities and aptitudes. The school is committed to the intellectual, creative and social development of the students by the provision of stimulating and relevant programs and orderly teaching and classroom practices.
The school offers a number of specialist programs to meet student needs and interests. These programs include Gifted and Talented Education, Specialist Basketball, Specialist Computing and there is a strong focus on Vocation and Education Training. There are numerous after school sporting teams, debating and poetry clubs. Willetton Senior High School is a Lead Language School and a Department of Education Teacher Development School in Languages. Willetton SHS prides itself on an ethos that all students should be successful.
Willetton SHS achieves outstanding results in many areas and some of these are national testing and the Western Australian Certificate of Education. The Mathematics learning area is no exception conducting rigorous data analysis for improvement in student performance and engaging students in a challenging and relevant curriculum. The school has undergone a major building upgrade to complement the vision of providing exceptional education facilities for all our students.
As a highly effective educator you should possess an excellent understanding of the Western Australian curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements in Lower School and current Senior School courses. This knowledge combined with pedagogical skills enables the development of programs differentiated for the specific learning needs of all students across the full range of abilities.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
